Default New guy from Texas

Hello all,
I am a new diesel owner from Canyon, Texas. I recently bought a 2wd 1988 square body chevy dually with a ve pumped 12 valve, some have told me it is actually a marine engine because of the build date, (1988) and that it is rated 180 hp and has the marine water to air intercooler. The main reason for buying the truck is because cummins is badass, and I have always wanted an 80's chevy dually. Goals for the truck are ~ 400hp and hopefully shut up a friend with an '06 duramax, all while still being able to pull whatever trailer I want. Is this a realistic goal? The current plan is to p pump it, injectors and lift pump. Am I crazy for wanting rid of the VE? It currently has a funny acting th400, but I have a 4l80e being built as we speak. Any pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks. I'll try to get some pics up soon
