Newbe from Western KY.
Howdy. I'm new to the forum as well as new to diesels.
Took the plunge about a week ago and purchase an old 1995 Ford F350 7.3 liter diesel with 173K miles on it. Drives and rides really well.
Knew it has a few issues but, not knowing much about diesel engines. I missed the fuel leak on the top of the engine. Well. I'm not physically able to fix it my self so. It was off to the shop. I know of a good diesel mechanic. Skilled and Trustworthy. Known him for a while now and the company I work for does business with him to fix their trucks both small and big. He has worked on quite a number of old Ford 7.3 liter engines so, he knows where to look and where to start.
Fuel Leak Round 1. They found a hose that fell off the fuel filter housing. They put it back on, cleaned the engine up and let me drive it a week. Leak returned but not as bad.
Fuel Leak Round 2 will start in a few days, as soon as he has an opening.
Going to get the block warmer and cord replaced during round 2. The old one draws about 7.5 amps but it doesn't get hot.
Looking forward to learning a lot about my truck here.
