If youre planning on a 98 24v make sure you check the block casting number before you buy it. If its a 53 block dont get it. They are prone to cracking in the water jacket especially when moded. Any other 24v or 12v block is good.

Been a while since ive heard the whole 53 block thing.....hell,I havent even looked yet to see if the 99 i bought in may has it yet and I beat the snot out of this truck.... I did however read somewhere that the scare isnt all that its hyped up to be .....something like 1% of these blocks have actually had a problem....im gonna have to go look for that# now that its on my mind again!.....if I can remember where its located again

Nope I was planning on having a 12 valve, 98 is the last year the 12 was produced. Than half way through the year they came out with a 98 24v. I just spat that out I'm sure everybody already knew that.

yeah,they ave a problem with cracking and dumping coolant then you need a new block or,used engine in most cases

Is that an issue prone to earlier/older engines, like 1st and 2nd gen? Ive got an 06 3rd gen. SHould I be worried?
