Default New to Diesel and new to the forum!! Hello from N.C.

Just picked me up a 1992 GMC 1500 Sivlerado 4x4 for $1000. All I've done so far is fire it up and ride it around the farm I bought it from. Its 4x4, straight drive, and has the 6.5L Turbo diesel motor in it, which seemed to be a weird combo...idk...has 201,427 miles on it..mechanically it seems sound but it needs alot of cosmetic TLC!! I'm new to diesel truck ownership so I'm deff going to be all over this forum getting info and checking stuff out on turning this into a badass truck. But first I'd like to get some advice on the first things I need to go through and probably replace performance wise/drivetrain/body etc....I'm going to have about $1000 bucks to sink into the truck at first before winter hits.....

dang you really got a good deal!! welcome to diesel bombers!! i dont think the 1500's came with 6.5's, but i could be wrong. we owned a 1990 1500 sierra with a 350 in it. oh well, not too many miles, very good price. as long as it runs, thats all that matters! gotta love a fixer-upper

i dont know much about them either! do your research and educate us on them! its a rare thing to see a 6.5 turbo on the performance end. most of them i know of are dead and gone. good find! would love to have one just for the sake of saying i found a good one!

Thanks!! I'll have get some more pics up soon..But it deff has the 6.5 Turbo in it I'll have to get some pics of that too..even has the 6.5L Turbo decal on the hood...I thought it was a odd combo myself...it needs a bunch of comestic stuff inside and out, the paint is bad, and the engine bay needs cleaned up really good and gone through....They just used it as a little farm truck to pull big trailers and equipment around..So they pretty much just kept up with the mechanics of it and didnt care about how it looked..

Heres a few pics of the interior, 6.5L TD, and hood decal....

Probably going to go to Pull-a-part and get most of the interior in a better color, and better bench seat, buy new carpet...
