Well... I'm ALL about some pumpkin carving... So as the judge, I'm gonna have to go with carving only...

A lot of what I carve I carve with a jig saw or a sawzall. Basically, think outside of the box. Stop looking at the pumpkin as a pumpkin and look at it as a piece of wood and use whatever tools you would if you were carving wood, then you'll get better results.
