how to install a tachometer

i have a taylor rs-120 fork lift with the 5.9 cummins 12v in it and need to install a tachometer. what would i have to do to do this?

easiest would be to contact taylor and see if they have a kit for a tach for them. next would be buy an aftermarket diesel tach that reads off the crankshaft
