What year model (engine) is best?

What year model (engine) is best?
Hey Fellas,
I'm looking for a previously owned truck and I know that there was a year range (04-07 I think) where the engines where great and had the least problems. Can someone tell me that year or year range so I can look for one. I was interested in the Duramax turbo. And, just to let you all know.....I don't know "jack" abort diesel engines.
