Default Performance up Grades

I just got a 04 2500 and I am looking to do some performance upgrades! It already has had the muffler and cat taken off! I am mainly looking for better fuel milage. Any recommendations on Chips would be great!

just about any programmer can give you a few mpg better, if you are strictly going for mileage gains, having someone custom tune the truck with EFI live will be your best bet.

EFI Live is the way to go with a Dmax... Your gonna need some tranny work to hold the added power tho!

Had a dmax with a bully dog chip on it come in for a set of gauges and just done a set for my buddy(05 w/zf6) and there's no comparison. The efi just feels better all the way around, but they both claim 20+ on the highway. I've drove the 6 speed truck off and on a few times and it really does get awesome fuel economy as long as the skinny pedal isn't stuck to the floor. Intake would be a good idea too

yeah a higher flowing intake wouldn't hurt but if he is only mildly tuning for MPG then it probably won't do anything. a custom EFI Live tune is your best bet for mileage. personally i would not go any higher then about 40 HP over factory on a stock transmission, and this can be done on a mileage tune.

Very true, just thought i would throw that out there though. Be a simple upgrade and it would help him down the raod if he chooses to add more power later.
