Default 4 spd to 5 spd

The only thing i going is chevy has a more common bell housing to trany common bolt pattern then some of the other vehicles.
What i looking for is a 5 SPD O/D TRANY that will bolt right in with the least amount of problems, except maybe shorting the drive line and/or slip yoke or rear yoke, might have to fab. up rear trany mount but thats really minor stuff.

are you asking if a 5speed Allison will bolt to a 350SBC? if thats the case I highly doubt it would, plus most 5-speed GM transmissions are fully electronic

I suggest getting a gear vendors over-drive for your current trans

Are you talking about the old Muncie 4 speed to a NV4500 swap? If you pull the bell housing with the 4500, it should fit the 350. I'm not sure if the bell housing on the Muncie will work for the NV4500. I think they are both 1 1/8" 10 spline input shafts, so the clutch will work. You'll probably have to modify the crossmember to make it work and shorten the driveshaft. The tape measure will be your friend on that one.

With some mods, it shouldn't be a big deal. Maybe other will know better or search somewhwhere like pirate4x4 that deals with a bunch of parts swapping.

Default 4SPD TO 5SPD

Yes that was what i was looking to do but did not know what trany will work.
The good part is as you say its GM BELL HOUSING interchangability and tranys.
The cross member will be farther back but not very much and shortening drivie line
it should not be hard to do as i put NISSON 4CLY. DIESEL in a chevy VEGA years ago
and had to shorten drive shaft by about 1",so if everything works right i will be able to get RPM'S down at highway speeds, thanks

I can't see you having too many problems other than lifting those big heavy trannys over your head (if you are doing it on the ground). The NV4500 goes behind a ton of different engines so parts should be easily available.

The only other thing I could think of is, you might have to convert to a hydraulic clutch. Not sure though.
