Need a little help for a friend.
My buddy just bought an 04 6.6L chevy and hes been asking for my advice on stuff. I'm a ford guy and I don't know much about the 6.6 so I was hoping someone on DB could help me steer my friend in the right direction. He doesn't want it for racing or sled pulling he's just going to tow a horse trailer and work around the farm. Are they're any problems that I should warn him about?
Thanks guys

First off he needs to find out if his engine is the LB7 or the LLY. There is a TSB on the LLY for the injector plugs for the number 2 and 7. This is an easy repair and is the only common problem I have encountered. As for the LB7, haven't seen many problems, the typical water/contamination in fuel causing injectors to go bad. As for mods, about the same for other diesels, intake, exaust and a tuner. The d-max responds very well to a tuner. One thing I do preach is having a good, clean supply of fuel and highly recommend a FASS or similar system on any diesel truck. Yes they can be expensive, but the reward of saving injectors, pumps and other expensive parts is well worth the initial cost.
