Cummins guy thinking of buying a d-max

---AutoMerged DoublePost---
If you are going to get an LB7, go for a '03 or '04 so you still have warrenty (7year/200k) on the injectors, just in case something happens with them.

you got 62 of them?
i never seen a single one in the shop when i swing by, besides mine
talked with a dealer today,No Wonder they can't sell anything all of the used car salesmen are *****.He told me that they don't make a 2001-2003 d-max in a 4 door but I was looking at one on there web site.
one thing on the dmax make sure you check the front end... the tie rods and all that stuff up under there... also check the ujoints... other then the injector harness those are the only things that have gone bad in 150k
First, a hard shift isn't always a good shift. Allisons are very smooth. The way their clutch packs are designed along with their programming, make for a nice constant flow all the way up the gears and rpm. Contrary to the 'old days', when a trans shifts hard, it's an indecation of something being wrong. Only Dodge guys still shift, everyone else has moved on with their lives and trust a good quality automatic to make towing a breeze, not an adventure.
Second, the old 6.5 has absolutly nothing to do with the 6.6 Duramax. Act as if you never heard of the 6.5 or any injector pump problems. The Duramax is completely different.....and no it's not a modified gas engine.
Things to look for when buying used: Check for a fluid leak at the rear case of the transfercase. Check for noises in the ft end that might be a loose hub bearing. '03-'05, check to make sure the speed-o works properly. Look for cracks in the trailer hitch.
When you find something you like in your price range, give us a shout, we can be more specific then.

what kinda noise, i have a small noise comin from my front left wheel well, and it sounds like somethings lose, it almost sounds like a bell, but it only happens at low speeds. could it be a bearing??
Usually a hub will make a scraping or roaring noise when driving, a 'bell' noise
Well, it's worth picking up the LF wheel and seeing if the hub is loose and look around for maybe a bushing being loose or missing on the sway bar end.
