Default EFILive Timing

Lets see if we can get Danny to continue those EFILive tuning basics. Ill see if I can get something something started. I've been working on refining my tunes, mostly dealing with timing and rail pressure. I've always used the 50/50 timing calculator to make my timing tables, a good start yes but theres other better ways to refine it. Danny mentioned how he does it in the previous thread but somewhere in the editing it got taken out. Anyways anybody have any good timing tips?

What do you think about 26* timing at 3100rpm on a 150 horse tune? Seems pretty high to me...

what kind of egts are you getting and what pw is it running.

i got some tunes you can try out if you want, you can throw them on your dsp5.

and they dont run much timing either

Well PW is around 2400. Dont have an EGT gauge yet Only reason i ask is mainer at dd asked if he could use my dsp tune till he got his tuned for the new twins, and he pm'd me back saying it wasn't safe because of the timing. He said i was running enough timing for a 600 horse tune.

ive seen timing as high as 32* for a 500hp tune. but that as with a big pulse width.

id like to keep timing out an pw down, if i could add more air i would

yeah more air would be nice, I'd like to do something like mainer did. I think the trans better come first.

I've kinda been playing around with lower PW and higher pressure since i have no problem keeping fuel to that kind of PW. Thats where timing gets even more fun.

Speaking of air what do you think of the intake horn mod?

i like it, you should get with super diesel and get one for yourself.

low timing a a bit more pressure down low will be fun to try out, i will have to throw that on one of my dsp's when i get my truck running again. thinking keeping the low timing i have for half throttle but adding some pressure for when i got WOT could help out some with taking off faster from a dead stop

Put a couple of those tunes on my DSP today. Scared the crap outta me it wouldnt start the first time i tried flashing it

Good smooth feeling tunes, come on real strong once the turbo lights. Dont know what to say about spooling better yet, I'll have to get a log of my tune also but my computer died. I'll have to keep playing with this maybe change some things for the altitude.

I was also thinking about the different timing tables, and how you can base them off the MAF instead of MAP. I dont know if how hard it would be or if it would help any, but what if you made three different tables on for low end spooling, one for mid range, and top end. You could figure out which MAF value associated with each stage or when you wanted it to change over. Who know if this would even help, but it could be fun to play with.

Id post up a screen shot of the log if i knew how to take make one

Figured it out

Look at the rail pressure...whats the deal with that? It should have no problem holding that at those PW, but it seems to do that sometimes after it defuels on the shift.
