Default Blowin Smoke

What exactly do I need to do to blow out some smoke? I dont want like a little puff puff of some grayish bull. I wanna pour out a big black cloud of death.

I dont wanna do this all the time though cuz i know it's burning more fuel or somethin?
But right now i plan on buyin the PPE standard, gauges, and tie rod sleeves.

your PPE will do the trick, with the newer electronic engines you need a programmer/chip things like that and it will recalibrate all your crap and give you more power and for a diesel to make more power you add fuel and air but fuel is what makes the smoke, EFI live is your best bet for your DMAX as it has the most variables to adjust

Gah i can't get away with this EFI live.
I just dont like how i'm stuck with one setting untill i get back to my laptop. i wanna be able to cruise around with one setting. pull over real quick and change it. then hop right back on the road and roar off.

efi live v2 controller is $749, usually some people will include a dsp2 switch. which would give you two tunes.

dsp5 is like 54 dollars i think. very nice indeed. but any 12pt switch would work, getting the pins and electrical connectors is tricky. so thats why i bought the 54 dollar one its pretty nice and all is needed is a dsp5 tune to be written and 2 wires plugged into the ecm. and you can have 5 tunes after that.

They just alo came out with a release to where you can use the v2 controller is self to switch tunes on the fly, no hardwire or switch or needed. and the v2 controller can also be password locked too so only you can unlock it and switch the tunes. and there is a valet mode feature to keep the other people who want to drive it out of trouble. They also just came out with a release to where you can log data with the v2 controller also, so the only time you would need the lap top in the truck is to change the settings on the tunes.

if you want to see what efi would be like you can d/l the program for free on thier website. EFILive: Digital Tools for Onboard Vehicle Electronics or follow this link to download it

if you d/l efi live i can shoot you some tunes and u can see what goes on

hmmmm. so i can download this thing for free and it'll be in my truck? or what? i'm confused what is the v2 controller? and this sounds a little more expensive than the PPE(of course i wont have to spend 500 now and 800 later when i switch from standard to +2hot...)

But yeah so i can just buy this mess and then have some settings and a little switch deal and thats all i need? and idk if i know enough about my truck to be going through and messing with different computer stuff...

The program that writes the tunes is free, but the v2 controller is what makes the connection between your computer and the truck. the v2 controller is needed to rewrite the ecm. when you buy one brand new it comes with two licenses. one license can tune one vehicle as many times as you like. and it can be used on nearly all gm fuel injected vehicle to pull codes or tune.

the V2 looks like this and comes with wires and stuff.

You wont be alone on tuning the truck we all start somewhere, but some one will nudge ya in the right direction.

efi live is a very powerful tuner, and takes a while to learn it how to tune correctly, but the things it can do is great. but it is time consuming, i usually end up changing something everyday to one of my tunes.
