You got that right. I think that can be said for everyone involved on these headers & Up-pipes.

My part is basicaly over other than one more recorded towing run, in the Texas Hill Country and recording fuel milage.

Up next is what TxC is calling his 'race headers'. It will be a big tune truck first testing tune only, then the headers/ up pipes like I have, then the 'race' set. I suspect info should be out in about a month or less.

Anyway...that's my $.02 on it.
They help everywhere in the curve. Down low big time yes with mostly stock parameters like Russell's truck but thats because the turbo is trimming back the extra boost that it is capable of with the headers and up pipes.

A racer or puller will get even more out of them than someone like Russell. As an example, my truck makes over 100 horsepower and almost 400 ft/lb more torque than Russell's truck. I have him stomped in the power category easy, its no contest. But, I have the dreaded lag monster that most have, and now that Russell has the headers and up pipes he doesn't have the lag and his power is there right away. So what happens is we are side by side at 30 MPH and we both punch it, Russell's truck jumps on boost and puts a truck and a half on me BAM right then ...... now yes, once I get on boost I reel him in and run off cause duh I have him covered big time in the power department, but I spend a lot of time and whole bunch of distance overcoming the initial hit he delivers.

So a racer or especially a puller will love them because they will be able to much more easily "light the turbo" and get up on power. Look at it this way, if you eliminate pressure that was previously lost just making its way through the crappy stock pathways, that pressure instead can be applied to the turbine to accelerate it faster and harder. Result = more efficient use of drive pressure, quicker spool as in less lag, and more boost on top (we see 2-3 pounds) because of the greater DP across the shaft. It simply makes boost easier, a straight win no matter how you look at it.

Dyno testing in a more performance oriented truck is coming soon, the objective was to get a baseline and Russell's truck was perfect for that. Now we will see the gains in a more modified truck, and I am expecting them to be significant, on the order of 40 to 50 horses or more at peak and cutting a wide swath of destruction across the entire powerband. They gained huge across the entire powerband on Russell's truck but we made no changes to take advantage of what they do, when the rest of the truck is leveraged to take advantage I expect the response to be much larger.

It was funny when I put a stomp'n on you, even if it was for only a few seconds.

Being limited to the stock programming's 23psi makes it hard to get much more out of the 'peak' areas. I can hit 25 psi for a second until the ecm backs it off to the 23 area, but boy howdy, it gets there fast.

Can't wait for round 2...

OK...I just got done driving Russell's truck no less than 30 mins ago and all I've got to say is OMG!!! That is the fastest spooling turbo I've ever driven. It would boost so fast that the computer couldnt keep up with it and would take a second to knock the boost back down to 23psi. Just roll your foot into it and there was an instant 25psi of boost. That was with a stock VVT, mild performance tune and nothing more than the headers and up pipes. I cant wait to see what this does on a full performance built truck with a big turbo and lots of fuel.
