Default worst engines ever made

Thought id start a thread n c peoples thoughts on what the worst engines in vehichles are. Heres my opinion
1. 2.4 quad four dual overhead cam
2. 5.7 olds diesel
3. 5.4 ford ticking triton
4. 5.7 tickin hemi
5. Straight 6 4.0 in jeeps pistons chip
6. 6.0 powerstroke
7. 6.5 turbo diesel and 6.2
8. 7.3 idi turbo headgaskets and valve guides
9. 4.3 vortec
10. 5.9 magnum 360

These are my opinions and experiences based on my hobby as an engine rebuilder and based on what ive seen first hand. Foreign engines were left out.

3208 Cat,
3408 Acert.
400 B cam Cummins.
Cummins ISX (depends on the day if they are POS)
6.0L Powerjoke.
6.4L Powerjoke.
Anything with a DPF or Egr.
Detroit Series 60 are just a PITA to work on.

Geez, I thing the 5.4 Triton and 5.9L 360 are good engines. One truck on the ranch has 230K with the 5.4 and my mommas durango with the 5.9L had 290K and still a tickin.. If you listen very closely everything ticks..

I agree on the dpf and egr... and detroits are a pita leak oil bad and parts are expensive. But in my experience the 360 is inferior to the 318 magnum imo but neither are like a 6.5 where it will just snap a crank unexpectedly or block will crack. As well as the issue with the 24 valve 5.9 block #53.

I like the 318, and 302's the best. But their are only a few bad #53's it was just that block run that had a bad casting mold or two out of a 100 or more molds.. Also I needed to add Maxxforce. Dear lord save us all...

I will have to disagree with you on the 4.3 Vortec,I have a 85 gmc sierra with the first vortec,it came with 4-Barrel carb and headers factory. This truck was bought buy a old man that never took care of it,then let it sit in a barn for five years. My nephew bought it got it running, ran the dog **** out of it for a year with out ever even changing the oil from when the old man parked it.Then I bought it and have put 50'000 on it with no issues and I am getting 21 mpg.

Common rail cummins? which year and which one the 6.7L or the 5.9L I think the common rails are the best fuel systems.. My friend just destroyed his engine because he ran for months with a bad injector.

Ive nvr worked on a common rail cummins so i cnt say yay or nay.. ive heard the 5.9 common rails can take some high egt abuse good...as for 6.7 idk a clue except there so restricted with dpf and egr they get 11 mpg and ive seen a article in diesel power on a 6.7 piston went to **** after 22,000. But they are all good engines in my opinion.
