Default LMM Mileage

A buddy of mine has a chevy crap 6.0 gasser and is contemplating trading up to the d-max. Right now he is only getting 8 mpg in town and 11 TOPS on the highway. He is trying to figure out if he can save enough money in fuel costs to make up most of the payment difference. So, guys with LMM's, if you could post what your stock mpg's were and what you get with mods, it would be appreciated.
Right now he puts on about 700 miles a month to my 1200 and i still pay less for fuel. But if he upgrades, he has to get a new GM since he went with a 4 year lease 2 years ago. His dealer is trying to tell him that he can get 18 all day, but I call BS with the DPF on it. Thanks for the help guys.

He can probably get 18 with the DPF on. I get between 11.2-13.2 depending on how I drive. On the current tank I am getting 11.0 flat.

As has been discussed more times than I can recall. His driving style will affect the mileage quite a bit. Cruising speed on the hwy and how hard he accelerates. Bigger tires and other things like that will drop mileage pretty easily. Can he get 18??? From all of the threads I have read on various forums.....maybe. I would be more inclined to think 17 is realiztic if he leaves the truck alone and drives reasonably. If he wants a diesel now is the time because the prices are cheap. If he can BUY a diesel and they don't kill him for breaking his lease early, this could be a good time. My brother in law just bought a new 08 Chevy CCSB Z71 Dmax/Alli over the weekend. Sticker was 45k and he paid right at 32k. The dealer gave him that price when he was just walking around looking at them. He prob could have gotten cheaper if he had haggled some. The big trucks/SUV's aren't moving so they are making great deals. That would really help make it economical if he were buying. Leases don't always capture the value of a down market so I don't know if they would make it worth it.

So it's looking like 17-18 mpg MAX on the highway. What about town driving? He does accelerate like alot of us do so that would help him alot. Most of his driving is in town and pulling a trailer or two once or twice a week. He just told me today that he usually can't get 200 miles on a fill up with the 6.0 gasser. The dealer he is talking to told him that he can buy a chip from a certain place and they wouldn't care and it would help his mileage (this makes me believe it is a superchips). Thanks guys

Well, it looks like if he gets at least 12 mpg with the 08, he can save about $60-$80 per month so he bit the bullet today and made a deal with the stealership here. We shall see. I know he will be one heck of a lot happier with a diesel.

I can get about 18-20MPG(tops) if I stay at 60-65MPH. the worse was pulling 32 ft car hauler at 70-75MPH...got 7.4MPG Only change I made so far is Quad Stealth2. Off with the DPF asap.

i guess if i get a LMM im getting the DPF off. the ford 6.4 is getting 20 MPG with the DPF off and programmer so the LMM should get more since they are more fuel efficient than the ford

I would say with a decent tune and DPF delete 17-19 is a realistice average.
