Default hit by lightning

Just bought an 07 gmc duramax that was struck by lightning.Previous owner preplaced bcm and tried to have it flashed at the dealer to no avail. Said it wasnt communicating with all components. Question is "do all components that are controlled by the bcm need to be plugged in to reflash bcm?" It has a number of electrical issues. Does the bcm controll the starter also or is that the pcm ecm? Any answers would be appreciated. Where would you start if you just bought it?.........Thanks again Steve

I would find a junk yard and replace everything.. My opinion, I think you're going to be chasing gremlins for a long time in that truck.
