winter front screwing up my OS temp. sensor....suggestions?
hello there, I live in canada and for at least 4 months of the year i NEED to use my winter front. the problem i am having isn't serious as it is annoying. when i'm using my winter front my outside temperature on my rearveiw mirror is way way off. is there a easy way to fix this? can the sensor be relocated else where? thanks to anyone who helps me out here!

mine only reads off when the truck is idleing, once i take off and and start driving the temps reach actual, but they can be as much as 10 degrees off
i dont have a true winter front however, but my brother has an LMM with the winterfront and his seems to read true when you start driving down the highway... within a degree or two....

The sensor just needs a little bit of air from the outside. What I did was to make a 2 inch diameter plastic tube from a 2 Litre bottle cut down. Duct tape it together and then squeezed it in the narrow space between the bumper and the covered front. Makes a really narrow tube but you don't need much air movement. I think I needed about 12-16 inches of length to reach the sensor from bumper to the front of the radiator where the senor is located. I managed to get the lip of the plastic tube on the metal lip holding up the sensor and it sits right against the sensor. It gets enough air to give me a reasonable reading.

Not sure if you got an answer to this but I know if you jump over to kennedy diesel's site he has a nice list of items you can do to make your truck operate better. This is one of them that I have done because my temp sensor was off by as much as 15 degrees with winterfront on. Go to tech tips then to the duramax you will see it listed there. This is in no way a plug for Kennedy just another great resource for a write up.
