Default Uh Oh!!

My Chevy has been making a bad sound the last couple of days. When I let off, just before the engine comes to an idle I get a loud vibration sound. I was thinking transmission so I tried it in neutral while rolling and it still does it. I'm hoping it's just ice buildup where it shouldn't be since it's been cold and soggy lately.

Could be as simple as front tire wear makeing the noise, u-joints, t-case dry (check for pump rub)

Shouldn't be past the transmission since it does it in neutral and is engine rpm dependent. I'm kind of worried about either the torque converter or maybe the turbo. I'm just gonna drive it for a few more days, then when I get back from vacation I'll re-evaluate. Was starting to like this truck until the last 5,000 miles, then it's been one little thing after another. Grrrrrrrr

I'm hoping this ice has something to do with it. 0 Degrees this morning, and the whole under side of the truck looks like this.

If you feel it in the floor board, it might be your exhaust. My aftermarket exhaust "rattles" a little at a certain engine rpm. Does it like you say, when slowing down in gear. I think it's my cat delete pipe against the trans brace. Hasn't been annoying enough for me to fix yet.

I think it has to be ice somewhere now. I've been driving it this morning and pinpointed it to 900 rpm's moving or parked and gear doesn't matter. I have stock exhaust with the cat and muffler replaced with a 4" straight through muffler, but I'm not crawling under it to see if ice is close to it right now.

Conclusion, it was ice. It melted some of it off today and the noise went away, just in time because I was stressing about whether to wait and see what developed or bite the bullet and trade it off before it blows up. I'm a happy Chevy guy again.
