Default dash read out

Hi guys. My son has an 06 duramax Tha has been acting a little strange. A read out on the dash comes up RANGE SHIFT LIMITER accompanied by a widely fluctuating speedo. Usually happens on start up. Any ideas. Thanks. Niels

Man, I havent heard of that issue before, but Im sure its nothing that a new cluster cant fix. I know alot of DMAX owners have HAD TO change the cluster. Im not sure why, but I know they did..

Sounds like a dash cluster issue to me, probably too many miles to be warrantied now. I did get GM to warranty my 03 cluster on good will a few years back. Cost me $100.

I got the Range Shift Limited message on the dash after the trans started slipping badly. It was accompanied by plenty of codes however...

It had been very cold up hereat the time(-32C) and it turned out to be the grounds for the most part. Thanks for your responses.
