white smoke intermittent and air leak?
My 2006 durmax one ton diesel pickup got dirty fuel (water I believe) so I took the tank off and cleaned it out and put clean
fuel in with a bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaner and a new filter and filled it right up and it ran a little rough until as I was
driving it suddenly began to blow massive amounts of white smoke. I pulled over bled some air out of the filter (black plastic screw on top off to side). I managed to drive home as the smoking slowly disappeared. Drove five miles to work this morning, running very rough but no smoke. Drove home for lunch and on the way it erupted into white smoke (rich smelling and lingering) again. I limped it another 3 miles home and it stalled as I came to
a stop. Now it will not start. please help. I scanned the check engine light and there were 16 codes. Misfire on several but not
all cylinders, low fuel rail pressure, glow plug circuit problems on three cylinders. I cleared all the codes and the only three to
come back are for cylinders 1,2, and 5 glow plug circuits, however, I have not been able to restart the engine. I prime the bulb
like crazy and crack the bleeder screw to let air out, and then prime it some more. Then I depress the schraeder valve on the
fuel rail to see if there is pressure, and fuel squirts out very well. Then after turning the engine over awhile I stop to see if the
pressure is still there at the fuel rail test port, and I get nothing! Somehow I am losing pressure. I didnt disconnect any lines
when I dropped the tank and cleaned it, I simply spun the big ring off and pulled out the gauge before then vacuuming and
wiping out the tank. Don't know what to try next.
