Default 2006 Chevrolet C4E042 4500 Loaded Durmax Diesel Allison?

Wondering how to find out how if this truck is an LLY LBZ motor? I do know it has the trans that can be flashed to have the 6 speed. So would that make it the LBZ?
Looking for a truck to tow our 16,000 lb 5th wheel with . And its between the above truck with 166,000 miles on it loaded for $28,000

Or a 2007 Dodge 3500 Quad cab short bed 2 wheel drive. This truck has 133,000 miles on it.And the motor has 117,000 miles. It was stolen and the motor and trans put in has less miles. It has the 5.9 so no exhaust brake but can add that to it.Plus 6 new tires and wheels. Price is $17,000.

I have a 2004.5 2500HD crew cab 4x4 short bed now with Rickson 19.5's. It tows the camper fine and everything. But just over loaded. It does not know its back there and stops great. But like some others just don't want to get in a wreck and a jacked lawyer try to take ever thing from us

So I like the Duramax and the cummins just can't make my mind up..

Part of me is just keep my truck and add the turbo brake and run it until it drops. It has 112,000 one owner miles on it. Will have to sell mine or trade it in to buy what ever I do. Not even sure what it worth? Loaded with everything other then the TV in back Plus a retrax bed cover.

I dont think they ever put the LBZ into the kodiaks so it is probably the LLY

If you're considering the dodge Dually why not find an 06-07 classic style Duramax 3500 dually? My father in law pulls his 26.5 ft 5th and 16ft fiberglass boat behind his LB7 like its not there, I'm sure the LBZ dually would pull your trailer like a champ, and you can tune it so that the turbo acts like an exhaust brake, I have it done to mine and it works really well

the LML (2011-up) trucks are beefed up in the frame/suspension/brakes area and have the turbo-brake built in, just probably don't want to spend that much though right?

Thanks the truck sold last week to the insurance. They were using it and got into a wreck. So its gone.

Reason thinking about the Dodge, Has the motor I want.

As for towing. Not sure what yoru father in laws camer and boat weigths. But our camper is 16,200 lbs by its self. Then our truck. The Chevy does a great job with it, but will have to have the Exhaust brake.

As for the new trucks. just not sure I want to go with the EPA junk right now. Give them a few more years to screw them up then looking at buying new. But with the 2013 Ram 3500 Rated at 30,000 lb + I'm sure my next new or newer truck will be dodge. Way more Cab room, way more head room I'm 6ft 2" Son is 6ft 6" tall and wife is 6ft. I can't even wear my baseball cap in my Chevy..

Plus the way Chevy has been with my 2004.5 that I bought new. Not sure I will ever go with them again. Love the truck, just hate the company will not fix stuff right. They would rather patch it and get you out of warranty then tell you sorry your SOL...

Will be adding the Turbo brake to mine. And guessing run it for 5 or 6 more years. As when we retire in 6 more years. Plans is to head out with the camper and stay gone for 6 months at a time. If we can buy fuel then. LOL

I had a dodge with the 5.9, and while it was a decent engine, the truck that was around it was far less desirable, changing the whole front end ever 60k miles wasn't all that fun or cheap(axle u-joints, tie-rod ends, wheel bearings, ball-joints) oh and the transmission wasn't cheap to replace at 100k miles(completely stock truck) and not to mention all the rusting body and bumpers..

my duramax has 130k miles on it and i've put about 1/3 of the cash into parts for this truck as I did the dodge... to each his own
