Default Glow plugs gone bad? And shutting down egr with efi live??

I just bought a 2006 lbz DMax at auction with only 84,000 miles. Ran the vin any recalls made on the truck were takin care of like the gpcm and tranny cooling lines. But the check engine light came on and the codes on the scan tool read glow plug 8 glow plug 7 6 5 4 3 and 2. The miles seem too low for glow plugs to go bad. Just wondering if anybody else had glow plugs go out like this. Also I thought about doing efi live and the guys at long horn fab shop say they can shut down te egr sylinoid stopping the erg therefore not having to do a whole egr block. Just wanting opionions on that too. Any info would be great. Thanks

EFI Live can definitely disable the EGR. As for the glow plugs, try testing the resistance with an ohm meter

even with shutting off the EGR it could potentially be left partly open and still allow soot through, a block off plate ensures that nothing can get through

as for the egr delete go to durmaxforum.com and tons of info... I replaced #7 glow plug at 63k so they do go bad.. just make sure the controller has been updated at the dealer (recall I think) to lower the duration they are on.. had mine done about 1 month after I took delivery in 06

on the passengers side of the engine compartment you will see a long silver tube that attaches to the back of the intake horn, it should have a sticker on it that says "tokyo radiator" on it thats the EGR cooler, now on the back near the firewall the are two bolts that connect to the exhaust return pipe, its really tight but you can get in there with wrenches to loosen the bolts, you dont need to remove them because the block plate has slots to slide over them, there is an existing gasket and it should be placed on the exhaust side of the plate, its a bit of a fight to get the plate in there but it is possible

hope that helps

No problem, thats what we're here for, You're gonna want to spray down those bolts with some penetrating oil, they are very very tight, it took a lot to get mine loose
