06 Duramax Shaking at an Idle

Default 06 Duramax Shaking at an Idle

i have an 06 GMC 3500 Cab and chassis with a 6.6L Duramax.
It is shaking really bad at an idle and smooths out a little at higher RPMs, When first looking at the motor i was thinking maybe injectors. After doing a cut out test it seems like all injectors are firing properly.
I did find the balancer bolt was backed all the way out.
A buddy seems to think this is a balance issue and not a fuel problem
I need HELP!!! This is an over the road truck!!!
PS after tearing down to the balancer it appears that the balancer is in good shape, is it possible that it could have spun on the rubber or could the key-way have sheared?

the keyway could of sheared off. if that's the case you can get a kit to key the crankshaft and put a balancer back on it.

what is the best way to remove the balancer since there are no bolt holes to use a puller?

It should slide right off, but it looks like its really messed up. Pulling the Rad out and probably using some pry bars to walk it out. Its a tight fit to begin with so be careful.

any other ideas on how to remove the balancer???
It will not budge, i have tried prying all around the best i can and prying and tapping at the same time and no luck.

youre gonna have to drill holes in it and use a puller to remove it then. you can find a used balancer pretty easuly guys are ditching the stock ones for after market.

drilled the holes and tapped them out to use a puller. Worked like a charm! Pin on crank had sheared off and spun the balancer.
Now on to the subject of repairing the pin and crank without pulling the motor?
Any ideas and help is greatly appreciated!!

See if you can drive the pin out with a punch, sometimes you can get lucky. I've heard people using a drill bit for a new pin but I sure as hell wouldn't do that .

I think I know of a guy who is selling an lbs balance actually.
Empire diesel performance sells a kit to pin the crank shaft. Check out their site, I know there are other companies who offer something, maybe fleece performance
