hey guys.... i bought a chevy duramax 3500 4x4 with a bad motor, production date is 7/05 and engine code is 2. i found a wrecked 06 GMC 2wd which i beleive has a engine code D ....will theese motors swap out with any problems?

 

If you plan on pulling one and dropping in the other ain't gonna work without a computer and wireing harness swap, plus possibly still some EFI Live work.

Actual short block to short block, don't know for sure but it might work. Can't remember if the head bolt pattern changed or not. I don't think it did.

 

thanks for the reply.... i got some more info yesterday... i,m buying the whole truck to get the motor and it has a #2 engine code also so i think i'll be OK. i the olny thing i can think of now is if the oil pan is the same going from a 2wd to 4wd? which i could swap if need be...so i will have the ECM and harness if it comes to that. thanks again
