Default K & N Intake

I have K&N intake air filter and would like to know if I have to use the K&N cleaning fluid and oil or can the cotton filter be cleaned with soap and water? And if soap and water is ok, what spray oil should be used? Just tryin to cut costs if reasonable.

You can clean it using dishwashing soap & let it air dry, but I would use their oil. I used to have a K & N airfilter, but I was told they let to much dust & dirt get thur

Yeah rinse it from the inside out itl be fine and re oil it, if you use too much oil it can get on the maf and give you low power and codes. But that can be fixed with maf sensor cleaner

thanx for the feedback, I was leaning strong towards dishsoap and water but I went and bought the recharge kit for 12 bucks, it includes cleaner and oil, and I think Im spendin way too much brain time on this one, thanx again.
