Default hard miss will not run no power

This problem is on a good friend of mine's truck. All stock. This is what it does: it will start missing and banging hard and no power. He has been able to cycle the key once and then the fuel gauge will not work and the check engine light is on. He then cycles the key again and the fuel gauge works and the check engine light goes off. Truck runs fine.
Took to dealer and they said the code always shows a problem with injector 7 of 8. Is this really a problem with the injector or is it a electrical issue somewhere? truck has 155000miles

Okay, now is there one big harness to all the injectors or are you talking about a short harness just to the injector?

I would check both. The big wiring harness next to the alternator. If it is not rubbed through, put a piece of heater hose on it. (insurance) And then the ice pick fix to the #7.

GM made the wiring harness to the #2 and #7 injectors short. That is one of the reasons that they have issues. Over time, the short harness causes it to loose connection at the injector plug.

Do this, it'll probably fix it:

Diesel Place
