front differential

Default front differential

i have a 05 extended cab 4 wheel drive and it doesnt seem to want to lock in i was just wondering if anybody has any ideas about what it could be front chunk and transfer case are both completely intact nothing seems to be broken or grinding or makin any noise thanks for any input you have

the actuator may not be engaging

Put it in 4WD, jack up the front end, and try to turn the front driveshaft while the truck is in neutral (block the rear wheels to keep the truck from rolling). If you can turn the front driveshaft, it is in the transfer case. If you cannot turn the front driveshaft, it is most likely in the front differential.

its gonna be the switch itself or the actuator motor
