Found one of these today, looking at it halfway kinda serious-like but don't know much about the Duramax in front of a manual from a performance point of view.

Any insight?

It's not going to be a go-fast truck ( 3500 crew cab long box 4x4) but I'm not sure on how a Duramax likes to have a manual behind it as opposed to the Allison.

TIA,

Dan

I have several friends that have them and they like them. I have never heard one of them complain about them. In fact a couple of them swear by them and would wait to get the handshaker over get an automatic that is in stock on the lot.

Thanks guys.

I'd heard the dual mass flywheel/stock clutch assembly was an issue, but can't dig up the info on whether that is due to performance upgrades taking an early toll or just a bad design right out of the gate.

If I get the truck it won't be modified much over stock....been there done that and the setup has plenty of snoot for what I do as it sits. Besides, if I really want to go fast I'll drive the GN. LOL

I had a 03 Dmax 6spd and the only problem I had was when I used my Quadzilla Stealth Tuner the truck would have bad vibrations when pulling a hill. It was due to the Dual-Mass Flywheel. Performance wise it had plenty of power and got 19mpg around town 24mpg on a trip and 18mpg pulling a 6500lb race car. Actually I wish I still had that truck.

Thanks all for the information.

I've decided to put my $$$ into some property, so the truck will have to wait.
