No problems yet. I do pull a 20ft roll off trailer with about a 4ton payload (give or take) at least 3 times a week and have never had a prob. The truck is bone stock at the moment but i am gathering mods to put on the truck.

You shouldnt have any problems overheating unless you are really workin the truck hard. It sounds like a good truck. Also the LLYs sometimes have injector problems but its really hit and miss and I have only seen the 05's that really seem to have the trouble and even then its rare. Looks like a nice truck, if you have the money I say buy it.

You do need to be aware of the overheat deal, but don't worry about it unless YOU have problems. Yes, I a firm believer that all LLYs will overheat, the deal is, not everyone works their's hard enough with the correct outside conditions to make it happen. That is why we always get the 'all' or 'some' argument, there are a lot of factors involved. Even if your's does overheat or you get real tired of the fan roaring like a SOB all the time, you can fix it with a Rad Mod V2 and truely watch your truck become the tow monster it should of been from the factory.

Other common problems or things to do:

#2 and #7 injector connectors comming loose and causing a misfire (icepicking the connectors is the 'side of the road' fix, updated connectors and brackets is the GM fix).

Delete Cat, block EGR and reroute PCV

Don't worry about a CAI from K&N or any other 'bling' manufacture, the stocker is the best after a simple mod or two is done to it.

I guess that's it, they are a great engine and hard to beat, I'd own another one in a heartbeat.

Oh, the picture shows you have the power extending mirrors...switch those to the '06 tow mirrors that look like the Fords. They are plug 'n play and the visibility is 100x better than the power extend type.

Ok, great!!! Thanks for all of the comments!!! I am still looking at some other trucks too, but I am leaning heavily toward this one. As far as working it, yeah, it will get worked, but harder in the winter than any other time, and I plan to put it straight into the shop to do all the mods I can right from the get go. Good to know about the injector issues and the Rad Mod too!!!
K&N? it already has it, and there is no factory box with it, the filter would HAVE to GOOOO!!!
But that is the only Obvious upgrade that I can see.
I am also looking at a Silverado 4500 @ Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet, but I am unsure if I want to go that big. I want to kind of stay under the radar of DOT and the 3500 will do that better.

Anyway, THANKS again for all of the info!!!

Go away, stick to your CumminGs, you know nothing about the Duramax.
