Default Rattling sound around pedals

So I've got this "thing" that rattles every time I drive over small bumps in the road. It's coming from inside the dash in the area in front of the drivers legs. I've experienced this exact same rattle in my 2007 1500. Has anybody else had this rattle and if so, WHAT IS IT? I have made many attempts in finding what is rattling but no luck so far.

LOL... Good old chevrolet engineering! the steering stem shaft is telescoping and packed with grease that cannot defy the laws of gravity. over time the grease goes down and the top rattles. GM redesigned the stem around '08 or so if I remember right. I don't think the new grease is a whole lot better but, I here it makes it just past warranty now... I have found 3 ways to fix it. #1, buy the new style stem $$$. #2, remove the stem turn it upsided down and push/pull it in and out to move the grease back to the other end (yes, GM ask tech's to do this). #3 (what is done on my '05 LLY) get your head to where you can see the stem up behind the pedals. the stem has an aliminium shroud around it. Where the shroud stops you should see a white bushing, this is usully where the rattle comes from. What I did/do is take a pair of channel locks (monkey wrench or pipe pliers depending on your location in the country) and carefully pinch down the aluminium a little to close the gap between it and the plastic bushing. BE CAREFUL, you don't want to just crush it down. I pinch them a little then test drive, it usually takes me two tries to get it just right. The first one stops 90% of the rattle and the 2nd is usually just a fine tuning because I hate the rattle!!! I see other techs take a hammer and screw driver to it. They just create two little indents to close the gap. I'm sure their way works too...

Oh my gosh, thank you! I've had this problem on three Chevys before.
