Default Injector change concerns

I have a 03 lb7 with 216,000 miles and i'm in the process of changing out the injectors.
I have 2 questions for now...

1) I noticed gunk in the injector cups that didn't pop out. I know they need to be cleaned out before installing the new injectors. Should I be concerned if a small amount goes down into the cylinder? Is this gunk mainly a form of carbon that will burn up?

2) I forgot to drain the radiator before removing everything and when the first cup came out, so did coolant. I put the cup back in then drained the coolant. (dumbnutz...i know) anyways, I syphoned out the coolant from the cylinder. Do i need to worry about the small amount of coolant that may or maynot be in the cylinder?

Thanks

you can put it all back together and pull glow plugs and turn the engine through a few times and it should blow most everything out. some carbon deposists are normal just make sure you clean the cups out real good. I would recomend an oil change after you get the injectors in. Make sure to inspect the cups that stayed in the head to ensure they are still flush with the head. It wouldnt hurt to replace all the cups to give you a little extra peace of mind.

in my experience the best thing to do if u manage to get coolant in the cylinders is to siphon out what u can and spray WD or whatever you use into the cylinder before cranking, as most of the coolant that is left in the cylinders will leak past the rings and into the motor oil. and motor oil should allways be changed after any kind of major engine work because i dont think very many of us work on our trucks in a "clean room". and i have allso learned that when doing injector repairs on an lb7 one should allways remove and inspect the injector cups plus they are easyer to clean out of the head, no need to replace injector cups on an lb7 unless they are damaged they are not standard replacment like on the fords or allot of the bigger diesel motors , the tool for removal of the injector cups is on the expensive side, i recoment borrowing one or thier are allso some generic ones on ebay that i bought for myself and they work quite nice i think these are the ones eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices i would not advise trying to rig up your own tool unless you are very appt at fabrication for u could damage more than just you injector cups
