Default Synthetic Oil...?

G'morning, Fellas.

My 2001 GMC 3500 is coming up for oil change; this is my first diesel; my other trucks (I still have them) have been run on Mobil 1 full syn since new; they both have more than 180K.

I read stuff on Mobil 1 for diesels, AMSOIL, and this Royal Purple oil.

What say you?

Thanks,

--Bryant

Good 'ol straight up, regular diesel oil is all I run on mine and the one's in my fleet. Two LB7s with 190k, one with 140k, my LLY with 40k, one LBZ with 50k and 7.3 Powerstroke with 215k. Am I right or wrong???

Do whatever makes you happy.

I now run the newer type oil that we have to run but in my previous 2 (LB7 and LLY) I ran Rotella.

You are going to hear plenty of debates over this abut the brands you listed. DangerousDuramax will be here in a little bit to tell you about his studies on the one he uses.

personally i run rotella. only because most of the guys in my area run rotella and have had good luck.
if you do a search on best oil, the answer is amsoil.
i have also run mobil 1 in my wiefs car since new. the care still statrs and runs great!

they claim not to change oil brands. the engine will last longer if you run the same oil for the life of the engine.

Synthetic is great option and Mobil 1 is good brand. I'd rank them right there in 2nd place
Benefits are many. Some immediate and some pay off in the long run. Everybody makes them for a reason.

Delo 400 IMO its one best dino's. I ran it 15K in my Dmax and it was still good per a UOA.

Default Thank you.

Thank you all for the advice; on another duramax forum, there were a number of AMSOIL enthusiasts. I'll read more, I 'spose.
