Default '04 Duramax LB7 sputtering on acceleration

Truck's been acting like it did last time it needed a fuel filter change (spittin' and sputtering when accelerating, doesn't want to go). It did it once about a month ago, and it cleared up after driving for a bit, but I picked up a new filter just in case. I don't drive it often, so I hadn't changed it yet. The few times since that I did drive it, it was fine.

Now yesterday I drove it and it was acting up again but much worse. So last night I changed the filter. Problem was still there. Cutting out/missing/sputtering when I accelerate, can't go more than 30mph or it jerks too hard. Poked around a little more under the hood, cleaned the air filter too. Eventually after a while it seems to have cleared up. Could it have been the filter even though it still did it a little while after I changed it? Did it just need to clear itself out a bit, or is there anything I need to 'reset'?

I know these are notorious for bad injectors, but I just don't get the feeling this is it. No smoke, no fuel in the oil. Could it be anything else that would come and go without any sort of pattern?

????

No knock or other sounds other than sounding like it's choking itself off. Took it for another ride last night and was still running smooth, even when I really got on it, but I'm not convinced it won't come back.

@woodsnwater: Does yours come and go, where one time you drive it, it's acting up, and the next it's fine? Do you know how much it is to replace the FPR?

Could be sucking air from the fuel filter base. It's very common that they new o-ring kits.

Thanks, I wouldn't have thought of that.
