Default Performance Enhancers

I have a '02 2500HD with 78K mi. and running well. I pull a 5th wheel 'B' train(2 trailers) to snowbird territory each winter. I am considering a power upgrade for a little extra boost on the hills and getting around overloaded transports. I am considering the Hypertech E-Con model 33001 that advertises a boost of 73-94hp and torque boost 120/155 ftlbs. What are the drawbacks or risks in using these programmers? GM has increased the power output of newer models, does this mean I can too?

Go for it. But I wouldn't use a superships. I'd put a PPE standard on it myself.

The Hypertech products for your vehicle are all set with tuning up to stage 3 that can be used up to the max capacity (load/haul) as set by the manufacturer.
If you are towing or hauling more than allowed you should tune to a lower setting.
The actual tow weight will decide the difference.
We monitor the EGT at pre -turbo with precision probes to maintain a safe level based on the mfg. specs.

What is EGT, and what am I monitoring? I am only pulling about 9000lbs gross, plus 2 people ~9400lbs (GVWC ~12000).

EGT= Exhasut Gas Temp.
The PPE standard is their smaller programer and does not have as high of power levels as the hote+2. Its a great tow tune. We have an 02 with 60hp injectors and a standard on it. Pulls like its not even pulling anything.

ppe boost valve and standard ppe would be my best bet, i have the ppe boost valve kinda like a j hook on a dodge i get and extra 3 to 5 psi out of it well worth the $60 and from what i have been told hypertech is a tranny killer

Since the vehicle has the Allison transmission which Hypertech Does Not provide any tuning for I think you may gotten some incorrect information

No problem, just thought I would let you know.
