Have an 03 extended cab long bed... had been getting crazy and completely random oil pressure readings on the stock gauge. trouble code said the gauge was bad, so i replaced the gauge, still the same issues.

I ordered a new oil pressure sensor (104 shipped) and am going to install it this weekend, was wondering if anyone had done this before or if there was a write up on this already?

its real simple, just take off the driver side fender liner and boost tube and it will be in plain sight

Thanks for the reply, putting it in this afternoon along with a new fuel feed line on the #8 cylinder will take pics and post when im done

The oil pressure sensor was I believe bad from the factory, it never moved until i started having issues with the warning light, it always just read 60 psi, it never moved. The new unit reads little above 30PSI at idle and a little above 60 PSI at load, both good numbers from my understanding.

The fuel line was corroded so bad it had pin hole leaks in it. When my injectors were replaced at 47K miles under warranty, they didn't replace the fuel lines (I don't believe they cleaned them either) but ever since i got it back shortly after that i noticed that distinct diesel smell from my truck, after my return from my Afghanistan deployment, i noticed a small puddle under my truck, and sure enough diesel leaking from the number 8 fuel line. Needless to say i bought a new line and replaced the old one. Took pictures but i am at work, so I will post them today or tomorrow after class. The number 7 cylinder on the back passenger side is looking like its doing the same thing, going to replace that one and keep an eye on the rest.

Needless to say i am putting the DMAX up for sale. its almost paid off, and i am selling the toy hauler for a track specific trailer so i don't need a diesel for towing anymore, so if you know anyone who is interested in an extended cab long bed 2 wheel drive 03 Duramax, with the banks stuff on it let me know, about 400 miles under 70k as it sits

Almost forgot to tell you, my truck is an 03 and i did not need to remove the inner fender well and boost tube to get to the oil pressure sensor, crawled under the truck and it was right there on the drivers side of the block, plain as day. I do have a two wheel drive, so maybe its easier to get to removing inner fender well and boost tube on a 4 wheel drive.

I did find that the two "standard" oil pressure sockets did not work on the stock (read GM OEM) denso replacement sensor. i bought a thin wall 27mm deep socket that the sensor fit in perfectly. But you could just as easily used an adjustable box wrench or regular box wrench to get the sensor off FYI.

Will say the truck runs a whole lot better with the sensor and fuel line replaced. thanks to everyone for the help.

yeah 4wd kinda gets in the way sometimes. the autozone oil sensor wrench doesent fit. i found one at oriellys that did
