Default Coolant in Oil

2004 Dmax. 98K miles. my latest oil analysis came back with coolant in oil. lab said that it was small amount but showed up on test. (ppm wasnt given in report). took truck to dealer and they found nothing wrong (go figure). awaiting results of new anaylsis on fresh oil change.

I was given a Service Bulletin by dealer relating to coolant leaking past the injectors. The coolant level seems to be a bit lower than usual. Any ideas for the leaks since the dealer cant find any problems after doing a pressure test?

headgaskets? I realize you said it was a small leak but...
Send your oil to Blackstone, you'll get more explanation on your report and you can call em and ask questions...they are very helpfull

Bummer, any coolant is no good. Here's a quick didy on testing the headgaskets.

i know the injector sleeves on a LB7 can be an issue. you probably got bulletin #03-06-02-005B AKA document 1566698. it's not real common but the stealership i used to work at has done a couple HG's too for coolant loss. the truck should sit overnight before they try and leak check it with this bulletin.

X2 I would keep a very close eye on it can you smell coolant while driving or around your truck? If it was the HG the rad hose would be hard like a rock and there would be pressure on the cap. Could be the engine oil cooler or injector cups. I would have this UOA tested by Blackstone and see what comes back. If it bad take it back to the dealer and have them explain how that could be if there isn't a leak to you.

Defiantly not something you want to let go, hopefully its a bad injector and you get them replaced.

I also have the same thing on my 06 CTD, the dealer put dye in about 600 miles ago and told me to bring it back when I put 1000 on it so they can look for the dye. Just as a side note I only have 23, 6xx on the truck. Here is the thread about it.

could be head gaskets but i would look at other things before that, mainly the injectors.
