Message received, won't say I'm a regular mechanic, but have done a lot of work over the years. Many times we won't try based on some of the complexities just getting to the piece we need to work on. One piece of advice I could use is gettin all of the o rings and copper seals needed for the injectors, sleeves and return fuel lines. I cannot find the part numbers. I have an alldata acocunt, but these part numbers are not provided.

thanks again

Hello HeavyDuty, wanted to thank you again, I am down to the injectors and pulled them last night. Because it is a northern truck have taken extra time to make sure I did not bugger a head on some of those hard to reach valve cover allens. Almost the entire job with 3 sockets and a 5mm allen. One thing, after assessing the job, thought that the drivers side was the more difficult, and went for that first. Glad I did, passenger side was a breeze. Thanks for the original doc, have meet a couple of other diesel boys local to Florence, SC that gave me a little advice along the way. Waiting on the injectors to get in and start the back together process. thanks again Emmett

i did a set the other day again, went so smooth! it was actually the same truck i owned and did them in a year ago, but a year ago i put in crappy used injectors, this time i put re-maned ones in for the customer, hope they hold up alittle better!

i was amazed at how easy it was lol.....

Hey Guys -

I finished the swap this morning, but cant get the truck started.

I notice on efilive that the fuel rail pressure is really low. Like 120psi or something like that. From my old logs, I can see that the low value is ~900psi, so Im sure I just need to get the fuel system primed up better?

I changed the fuel filter and primed up the system like I normally do, but as long as the key is on, I can hear the injector pump(?) running.

Am I barking up the right tree?

pull the fuse for the injectors and crank it for about 20 seconds, put the fuse back in and see if it will fire.

RandomGuy 03-25-2011 03:28 PM

No better luck, but fuel pressure is all the way up to 180psi.:argh:

Unfortunately I don't know all the pieces involved here. If I have fuel up to the bleed screw.. What should I look at next? - or - should I re-seat the filter seals and try again?

Thanks for the write-up and for the additional help.

unplug the connector on your FPR, you will have to pull the altinator off and maybe the thermostat housing.

its in the valley, the only connector on the cp3. and crank it up.
