Busted CV Shaft
#21
cv joint
All thats broke in the rubber is the joint, all you need is a new cv joint or axle shaft what ever name you want to call it.The bearing your talking about is the wheel bearing and you don't need one of those. The cv shaft slides into the wheel bearing, then you tighten a nut on it.The other end of the cv shaft bolts to the front diff with like 6 or 8 bolts, if you look at it for a minute it will all make sense. You can do this in your drive way for less than a 100 bucks and an hour of your time.

yeah i was definitely confused at what was broken.i finally got it all figured out. i went to oreillys and got a new cv assembly and went ahead and bought a new hub assembly also. i think i was so confused cuz the dealership was quoting me around $900 but i found parts for $290 so i thought something else had to be broken. anyways, will never take my truck to the dealership again. i got my problem fixed as well as new rotors and brake pads for 1/3 of what they wanted just for the cv assembly.
