Default 2001 Duramax

131,000 mile. I was driveing to work, and as i was getting on the expressway i had to get on it pretty hard, as i hit 65 mph, it just lost all get up and go, will not get over 2000 rpms, will run good at 65 but no more. pull off the side of the road, shut it off, starts right back up and runs good up to 65 again then falls again. i changed the fuel filter and air filter and drove it for a good while and no problem till i get on it again and it started doing it again.

HELP

Are you getting a Check Enginge Light (CEL)? not going over 2000 RPM's sounds like you may have limped the Allison Trans.

What's the temperature?

Sounds like you're gelling up.

Happened to me as I got to North Texas from San Antonio in December. Fuel filter was pretty plugged up, so I changed that and started running some Howes, and since then it's been fine.

If it's not that, maybe a fuel system problem. Low fuel pressure perhaps?

Go to Auto Wiennie and get the codes checked so we can see if it's an engine limp or tranny limp.
