Hello everyone, I have been a lurker for quite a while just basically soaking up all of the help info on this site. My dad has a 2002 dmax 4x4 CC and its seems to have a choppy idle that seems to be happening more and more frequently. It surges so much that it wants to push through the brakes at stoplights... Any ideas??

Its completely stock... I thought it may be a fuel pressure regulator issue. I read that sometimes they can send incorrect data to the computer cause it to adjust fuel pressure incorrectly.

Oil level rising, any odd colored smoke from the exhaust, check engine light come on?? Does it only do it at idle??

 

No other symptoms that I know of, it only does it at idle.

 

it might throw a p0087 every once in a while, the fca (fpr) might be going bad

although mine used to do that before my injectors went out.

one thing you can do use use two-stroke engine oil and dump about a quart in a full tank and sometimes itl smooth things out
