i'm currently looking for my first diesel, and can't afford much, but I found a cheap 02 lb7 crew cab, long box 4x4, with the 6-speed standard, that I like. I know the lb7's had injector problems but the guy says it has new injectors and a cp3 with about 15-20,000km (9-12,000miles) on them. the truck might need a blower motor (squeals) and a couple other minor things for safety. it sounds like it was a farm truck, should I go for it, how good are these trucks?

 

my 02 ccsb 4x4 6-speed has 282,000 miles on it. i have treated it pretty rough and love it. I have pulled loaded semis, a five ton truck w/ d-4 cat behind it on the trailer,pulled out a stuck volvo semi, a 4x4 tractor, and a fire truck full of water. Also i pulled a loaded garbage truck up a hill on ice. I regularly gross over 30,000 lbs. in hay and it still gets 10+ mpg. The new injector pump that i put on about 225,000 ate itself and ruined the new injectors also, so i rebuilt the whole top end about 250,000. It will still out run about anything around, but the bottom end is about the inly stock thing left.

 

you haven't mentioned what the asking price was but if it is in good shape and the price is right then i would say go for it.

 

Get EFI Live and a better clutch from Valair you will have a great truck.
