if he thought the injectors where bad he was probably right. the LB7s where notorious for bad injectors.

the ECM/FICM will not open the injectors until it sees at least 10 MPA (1450 psi) on the high side. if the pump is primed and you know you are getting fuel to it but it doesn't fire then the return rate on one or more injectors is likely too high.

try replacing the short section of rubber hose on the output of the filter with a clear one so you can see if you are getting diesel and there is no air getting in.

you can also take the input to the filter and rig a jug and line to feed diesel straight into the filter. with this you can see if it is pumping fuel or not.

if you have access to a scan tool that can display the actual and desired fuel pressure that will make diagnoses easier.

Also, how many miles on this set of injectors and did you put a new filter in?

173K miles is pretty good for a set of injectors. i would bet they are shot now, especially since it was smoking.

priming it is easy. loosen the bleed screw on top of the filter housing. pump the primer bulb until fuel comes out. tighten up the bleed screw. be careful not to over tighten as it is plastic and cracks with little torque. this is one of the spots that leak often and causes loss of prime. then pump the primer bulb some more until it is hard.

you may need to keep pumping the primer bulb if the engine doesn't start. no need to keep opening the bleed screw each time.

off course if the return rate on the injectors are too high then the bulb could get hard and the truck will still not start.

ok that's how I primed it and what's the best way to fix this should I replace CP3 and injectors or just the injectors. what kind should I get bosh or industrial injection? it's gonna be a while before I can buy them I'm only 16 but I would like to know which ones to save up for. and will the injectors go out again after I change them? if so how meany miles should I get out of a set. thanks

as far as i know Industrial Injection sells Bosch injectors so you should be getting the same thing. as long as they are Bosch re-manufactured you should be fine.

i would replace the injectors and see how it runs then decide if it needs a CP3.

as far as how long they should last is up in the air. from what i gather it seems that most will go between 80k to 120k miles but some only get to 25k and some all the way to 225k.

They also shelf house remans which are less reliable IMO.

10% will likely make no noticeable gains. you would need something like 30 overs to get anything meaningful and an EFI Live tune to make it run right.

stock injectors could deliver enough fuel to bend rods and brake other hard parts. so the decision to keep stock size injectors is a good one.

check out Lincoln Diesel. prices are good and support is also great. did mine for about less then 2 grand. Web Store - Lincoln Diesel Specialties
