Default Bad injectors

Doug, I have a similar issue. I have a 2004 LB7 and took mine to the dealer in 08 about white smoke at idle and accelerating from a stop. They took my truck back checked things out and "tweaked" the fuel a little. Noting changed. In addition, at that time that great service bulletin did not come out until early 09 covering the injectors for 7 yrs or 200k from date of MFG of your truck. My truck being a 2004 is out of that warranty work by 2 yrs now. However, I contacted the service manager at the local GMC dealership that I have known for about 10 yrs from doing business with him at another dealer. He is honest and up front which is hard to find when you are looking for help/answers. He was able to see when I had it in prior to the bulletin and so forth. He told me he knew that he could get GM to cover at least 50% of the warranty cost in "Good faith". He said that would be worse case scenario. Next would be that they would cover more. So in my case if I have all 8 injectors replaced at GMC for less than what it would cost me to just get injectors in hand to do the job myself. With your truck being a couple yrs older, I am not sure what they will do for you. I think you need to find another dealership and acquaint yourself with the service manager. If you have documented visits with the dealers, it should help your case. Either way you are going to spend some money. If the truck is paid for I'd try to get GM to cover part of the cost or just change them yourself. That would still be cheaper than buying another truck. Aside from the injectors, these are great trucks and I think the LB7 is one of the best out there. Sorry if this wasn’t much help but this is an issue that I have been fighting for 4 years now. Good luck
