6.5 started black smoke

Default 6.5 started black smoke

my truck started belching black under acelerration yesterday. It still has good power, starts easy, idles good.I got 2 codes, 0401 and 1409, EGR related, could these cause the black when I pull away? injectors cause it?
Any sugestions.

I would put my money on the injectors. When they go bad, they allow too much fuel causing a lot of smoke. What performance mods do you to the injection?

I was thinking the injectors too. but they were new about 50 thousand K ago . Everything on the truck is stock, except the PMD location. I have the old injectors that the previous owner took out. Is it reasonable to have them tested/rebuilt, or better to just replace them?

could be the turbo related, usually main cause of black smoke in 6.5. vaccum system or turbo master?
