Default Harmonic Balancer Fluid Dampr...?

My 98 6.5 turbo (f) seemingly has a bad motor mount(but they are fine) when i pop the hood and rev it up the motor jumps around a fair amount compared to others i have seen. It is also blowing white smoke the majority of the time i am on the throttle and it has the smell of unburned diesel. Could this be a harmonic balancer issue or a stuck open injector or vaccum leak, can someone help me out with this (clearly i am a newbie) thanks in advance

Not trying to put you down here but if you are a self admitted "newb", how do you know? Transmission mounts also allow the drivetrain to move around a lot when they're gone. However, mounts are unlikely to be the problem based on your descriptions below.

Any chance you could make a short video of this "behavior"?

It's the whole "picture is worth a thousand words" thing.....

Not good if it's unburnt diesel and doing this after it's warmed up to operating temp. I'd suggest you start with pulling the computer trouble codes and an engine compression check.

Are you sure it's unburnt diesel and not coolant? They both "smoke" white....

Nope. Check the balancer anyways. always a good thing to check on an older 6.5

Maybe, but white smoke indicates not enough compression to burn it. A leaking injector usually smokes black when at normal running temps.

White smoke is usually associated with cold starts when the engine is not building quite enough heat to burn the fuel. If it's not generating enough heat when it's up and running it's likely a low compression issue.

Low compression can be worn rings, cracked piston crowns or valves not closing properly or damaged. Ring and piston problems would create a lot of blow by gases, evident by puffing vapors out the dipstick tube, filler, cdr, etc. Valve issues (bent/burned/something stuck on the seat/etc) can cause noise in the intake on a boosted engine or just loss of compression out the exhaust.

Nope.

No vacuum in the intake (turbo boosted) and a vauum problem on the wastegate causes black smoke on acceleration.

See above.

thank you for the thorough replies, i am a "newb" when it comes to this truck. i will check the tranny mounts, and what is a fix for low compression? it definitely isnt coolant (no sweet smell or coolant in oil)
The truck has all the power im used to in a 6.5 td , i have the black puff when the turbo spools but before the boost is mainly when the white is blowing, not highway speeds tho?... the diesel smell is also strongly comming from the passenger side near the turbo? the other thing that may be a contributing factor is that when i touch the gas pedal there is a fast ticking noise,

again thank you for your help thus far

Compression check and pull the trouble codes....

thanks again, ive checks the dip stick and filler for vapours and there is next to nothing, just a little clear heat waves

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

and it seems to get to normal running temp. i am really surprised at how well it heats up compared to my gas engine

Hey I have an idea you might wanna do a compression check and check for codes
