the 96+ has 2 T-Stats and you can run on the early ones but you need cross over and housing

The bolt pattern is identical? Should I run a 97+ waterpump as well with the dual tstat?.

Ok great, so I'm looking for a 97 and up. I'd rather have the dual t and high flow water pump
