especially if it's cold out.. the 6.5's like to put down a huge white cloud while they warm up

I plan on doing glowplugs soon to see if this helps with the smoke, what plugs do you guys recomend? OEM or aftermarket?

Ok, thanks. What is the deal with "fast start" plugs? Also, why do guys change resitor number with different plugs? Thanks

I just installed the Bosch duraterms work great! My 95 3500 will let out a good puff of white smoke on start up when the temps get within 5 or so degrees of freezing. I would say glow plugs will not help mu ch with white smoke but will improve cold weather starting.

yup older diesels (pre 08) are gonna fog for mosquitos on a cold start. theres no way around it. its kind of fun too as long as its not blowing toward anyone you like!

Not sure what you guys got going on, but my 98 is good down to -20c (not plugged in) on a cold start with nothing but a quick puff of black and then clean running.

Now, pretty much everything is new (1 year or less) under my hood which is prob part of my trucks "good manners"

If you've got big rolling clouds of white or black, check your glows and glow circuit, or your engine isn't as healthy as you may think it is. Even one bad glow plug or a cylinder down on compression will give you symptoms like these in the cold.

Something is "off"....
