im new to diesels i just got a 94 chevy 6.5 turbo and when i start it black and white smoke comes out but after i rev it up a couple times it clears up and smooths out i put new glow plugs in and i changed fuel filter and when i open bleader on filter it runs it dry can anyone please help plus i just had to put a starter on it and a flex plater but i get a grinding from the starter every now and then

 

Your problem as for the smoke could be the wastegate valeve being shut, what a lot of people do is just wire it open, it will give you a lot less smoke and will totally improve it.
