Default Fuel Advance

Hi there i have a 1992 6.2. Lately as it s been getting colder i have been getting rough starts. The other day i had an idea. With the fuel advance wire connecting to the injection pump. What i was wondering is if it advances the fuel when it is hot or cold. If it cold i think this would decrease by starting capability. HELP ANYONE!!!!

it advances when it is cold. and it helps it start because it gets fuel in the chamber early so it can have more time for the glow plugs to ignite it im pretty sure.. check your glow plugs ... and the advance solenoid.. the green wire should have 12v when its cold untill it warms try turning on the key and touch the wire to the terminal... it should make a "click" noise... if not, its bad. plug it in at night also it makes it 99% easier to start as well
